About the film
From a shy kid from Long Island to a sought-after leading man during Hollywood's most prolific decades, legendary entertainer George Segal shares his life story.
A Life Entertaining…
George was a storyteller, and never were his stories not entertaining. On the set of the ABC sitcom, The Goldbergs, where he played the grand patriarchal character of “Pops”, George would entertain both the cast & crew between scenes and setups with his tales of Hollywood during its creative height of the 60’s and 70’s, working with some of the most well-known and accomplished names in the history of cinema including Elizabeth Taylor, Mike Nichols, Orson Welles, Barbra Streisand, Robert Redford, Goldie Hawn, and Robert Altman, to name just a few.
We decided that these stories needed to live on and be captured on camera. We first watched George's entire filmography, then filmed seven interviews with him that would accompany subsequent interviews with fellow actors and directors George had collaborated with over the years. As filmmakers, we are honored to share that joy with the world in a documentary that celebrates the life, career, and legacy of a man who dedicated his entire life to entertaining others. And we're thankful he did.
Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Vernon Alfredo Davidson & Ryan Krayser

Vernon Alfredo Davidson
Director / Executive Producer
Vernon Alfredo Davidson was born in Chicago and started his career with a BA in Film Studies from the University of Illinois. After graduating, Vernon spent the rest of the 90s furthering his education in production, theater and comedy at Chicago’s famed Second City, all while working as a production assistant on film and commercial sets. After moving to Los Angeles in 2000, Vernon was awarded an apprenticeship at the prestigious DGA Producer's Training Program, catapulting him to the position of Assistant Director. After ten years of unique film experiences that have taken him everywhere from a remote Indian reservation in Montana, to the crowded streets of Bangkok, and even a film festival in Cannes, Vernon was promoted to Production Manager and has worked on a range of television shows, including The Goldbergs, Snowfall, and Justified. Vernon has also produced features which include Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie and Segal. In addition to his work as a producer, he has had the pleasure of directing on projects such as The Goldbergs, SEGAL and Performance Review for which he won the best comedy short at the North Hollywood Film Festival.
Ryan Krayser
Director / Executive Producer
Ryan Krayser grew up on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Armed with a video camera and a cast of neighbors, the eight year old filmmaker embarked on a career that has lasted to this day. He became a feature film production assistant at age seventeen, graduated film school and joined the Directors Guild of America. He currently is an Assistant Director and Director for Network Television. Ryan’s love of cinema continues as he brings a whole new story to the screen, SEGAL, about a kid with similar aspirations who became a leading man during Hollywood's most prolific era.
BJ Maier
Editor / Producer
BJ Maier grew up in the great state of New Jersey and received a degree in Television, Radio, & Film from Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He then traded the East Coast for the West and has been working in scripted television in LA ever since. He has worked on such hit shows as The O.C., Rules of Engagement, Last Man Standing, and most recently was the Post Producer for the ABC sitcom The Goldbergs. He's currently the Executive Director of Post Production and VFX at Sony Pictures Television where he oversees projects like The Boys, For All Mankind, Cobra Kai, and Twisted Metal to name a few. When he's not working or spending time with his wife and 2 kids, he's editing. He has edited short films, music videos, marketing materials, web series, comedy sketches, and one very well-received Bat Mitzvah video, but he discovered a passion for documentary filmmaking while editing and producing SEGAL and hopes to collaborate on more documentaries in the years to come.
